Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is a famous Indian actress, who gained recognition for her performance in Hum Aapke hain Koun and Beta Saajan. The actress began her career in the early 1980s and was introduced to fame with her appearance in the film Tezaab where she appeared with famous actor Anil Kapoor. In the next film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared as well. In Mumbai where she grew up, she was by middle class parents. From a very early age, she began to take dance lessons. At the age of 15 She began acting but faced difficulties as most films she made were unpopular. Her fame grew and she became one of the top film actors. After marriage, she had a career break but returned to her profession. She played a major role for the film Gulaab Gang, a film about women's struggles in India. Dixit received 15 nominations for Filmfare Awards. She won 8 of these. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award for civilians India was awarded to Dixit. Her social work sector is well-known.
