Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. The couple moved to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and attended the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized she would like to be an actress. For several years, she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught singing dancing and acting. By the age of ten she was performing and taking the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions Emma as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first cinematic appearance was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001 it set new records in its first day sales as well as the opening weekend's earnings. Film critics praised the film as well as its performances by the three leading actors of the young generation. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed, called her performance commendable. In the following days, Emma was shortlisted for five prizes for her work in the film winning her the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in a Feature Film.
